Songs they used to play on Countdown

I had a lot of fun last night presenting the music I used to hear on Countdown.  I used to love sitting in the lounge room with mum and dad, and sometimes with my two brothers as well, watching the show every Sunday evening at 6.00pm.
Favourite acts for me were John Paul Young, Sherbet (I used to scream out for Garth at their live concerts), and of course, Hush.
Last night on a Mixed Bag we heard songs that brought back memories like Sherbet with Silvery Moon, Hush with Boney Maroney, Rene Geyer with Stares and Whispers,  Fox with SSSSingle Bed and Joe Dulce singing Shaddap Ya Face.  I had so many songs to choose from and it was very, very difficult to decide what should be included in the playlist.

My friend Ian Battersby, who lives locally, worked as a Sound Mixer on Countdown in the very early days of the show, and I asked him to share some of his memories with us.  Here is a link to the interview, and a fantastic photo of Ian in Studio 31, where all the sound action took place in 1974. (Please leave a comment if you have any interesting memories of watching Countdown with your family).

A Mixed Bag with Chris B on 93.7 Edge FM in the Bega Valley will be taking a break for about a month.  The show will be back on air on Tuesday 14/05/2013.  The station has recently received a grant to update our website thanks to the Community Broadcasting Foundation, and we are hoping to be able to include some live streaming of some of the programs we have on offer at 93.7 Edge FM.  I will keep you posted!
