Morning theme and interview with Albert Falzon of Morning Of The Earth fame

Last night on a Mixed Bag with Chris B on 93.7 Edge FM, our theme was "Morning".  We heard songs like Morning has broken (Cat Stevens), What's the story morning glory (Oasis), My baby takes the morning train (Sheena Easten),  Easy like Sunday morning (Faith no more), Angel of the morning (Juice Newton), There's got to be a morning after (Maureen McGovern), and Sunday morning coming down (Johnny Cash).  We heard lots of other songs with the word "morning" in the title.
We also heard some songs from the original Morning of the earth soundtrack, as well as new music from the Spirit of Akasha soundtrack.  Spirit of Akasha is a new movie which is a celebration of Morning of the earth.

A watery theme on a Mixed Bag last night

Last night on a Mixed Bag with Chris B, we had a watery kind of theme.  The playlist was made up of songs with the word sea, ocean, beach, harbour and other water based tunes, including Bridge Over Troubled Water, It Never Rains In California, Zeno Beach, The Sea, Smoke On The Water, Down By Harbour Lights, Night Swimming, Swimming, Deep Water, Blue Bay Blues and Take Me To The River.
Last weekend I went to the Thredbo Blues Festival.  It was great to catch acts like Minnie Marks, Jesse Valach and Blues Mountain, Doggin It, Jungal and Ray Beadle. At the end of the show last night we heard a couple of tracks from artists who played at the festival.  Wendy Matthews was a highlight for me and below are a couple of photos from the weekend.

Silverchair

Tonight's theme on A Mixed Bag with Chris B was Silverchair, and we played lots of tracks from Frogstomp, Freakshow, Neon Ballroom, Diorama and Young Modern.  It was interesting to find out about their music, their lives and the band's history and realise how the band grew artistically from their grungy youthful angst reflected on Frogstomp to the grand orchestral arrangements on Diorama and the more poppy Young Modern album.  So much has been achieved and still so young!
Of course they aren't playing together at the moment after their "indefinite hibernation" announcement in 2011.
Next week our theme on a Mixed Bag with Chris B will have something to do with Swimming, Diving, Pools, the Ocean - somthing like that!  Haven't quite worked it out yet.

2014 is here!

I'm not sure where the years are going, but I can't believe it's now 2014.  After a short break over the Christmas period, A Mixed Bag with Chris B returned tonight with a Calendar Months theme - January, February, March etc.
