Jump!

Tonight on A Mixed Bag with Chris B, our theme was "Jump" and we heard quite a few songs with the word "jump" in the title.  This Saturday, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will be holding a Jump to Cure Diabetes.  It is the ultimate challenge, where you can face your fears by jumping out of a plane, and raise funds for type 1 diabetes research at the same time!!
The ACT is not that far from the Bega Valley and there will be two opportunities in the ACT to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.  These tandem Skydiving jumps will be held this Saturday 29 March 2014 and the following Saturday 5 April 2014.  You need to be 12 years or over to participate and numbers are limited.
Click on the link below to hear an interview with Mel Eveille from JDRF, and below that, a link to the JDRF website.  If you need more information you can also contact the Canberra JDRF office on 6249 8555.

Some of the tunes we heard tonight for our "jump" theme were Van Halen's "Jump" (an obvious choice!), Jump for my love by the Pointer Sister's, Jump for joy by Peggy Lee, Jump in my car by Ted Mulray Gang, a couple of songs with a calypso rhythm - Jump in the line (Harry Belafonte) and Jump right in by the Zac Brown Band. Jump, Jive and Wail by the Stray Cats provided us with a little swing music and Taylor Swift's "Jump then fall" and Gary Barlow's beautiful ballad "Jump" highlighted their song writing abilities.  Of course, the Rolling Stones had to be included with everyone's favourite, Jumpin' Jack Flash!

Next week, our theme will be "Heroes", so if you live in the Bega Valley, tune into 93.7 Edge FM between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm for "A Mixed Bag with Chris B".

Back now after a short break

After a three week break, A Mixed Bag with Chris B has returned to 93.7 Edge FM between 6.00 and 8.00 pm on a Tuesday night in the Bega Valley.  Tonight our theme was travel - a few themes rolled into one really - travel, destinations, leaving, modes of transport etc.
Having just returned from a trip overseas I thought presenting a theme about travel would be a good way to ease my way back into the show after a bit of a break.
I'd like to ask for suggestions for future themes for a Mixed Bag with Chris B, the stranger or more obscure the better.  So, please put on your thinking caps and see if you can come up with any ideas.  The person who comes up with the best idea (most original) will have the honour of having a show dedicated to them and their theme.  I will give you more details of how to contact next week, but have a think about it in the meantime.
